Tampere University (TAU) is one of the most multidisciplinary universities in Finland. They bring together research and education in technology, health and society. The University is known for its excellence in teaching and research, and it collaborates with hundreds of universities and organisations worldwide. Their community consists of about 22,500 students and around 4,200 staff members from more than 80 countries. The Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology (MET) focuses on combining clinical medicine, life sciences, and biomedical engineering, housing over 300 researchers. The Adult Stem Cells group, led by Professor Miettinen, study molecular mechanisms regulating human mesenchymal stem/stromal cell behavior to develop cell-based therapies and in vitro models.

Role within GreenNanoBone

Our role in the GreenNanoBone project is to investigate cellular responses to biomaterials and pharmaceuticals, and to develop a vascularised in vitro model for studying biomaterials and drugs, such as bisphosphonates, in a bone-like environment.
